GSBA President Candidate Profile : Ashfaque Mansur
I am Ashfaque (Ash) Mansur.  I am originally from Dhaka Bangladesh.  Since 2003, I have been residing in San Diego, California with my wife Farhat, daughter Lamia and son Syon.  I had moved to the United States in 1981 and received my BSEE and MSEE from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
 
I have over 22 years of experience in SW development, HW/SW integration, technology evaluation, Engineering Management (to VP level) and Program Management.  My career spanned from Biomedical Engineering to such diverse areas as Defense and Telecommunication. 
 
During 1995 through 2000, I worked at Genesis Technology Group at various capacities.  I rose to the position of Vice President and was responsible for evaluating diverse technologies for acquisitions, leading and directing new initiatives, and building business partnerships in the areas of Telecommunication and Biomedical Engineering.  I was the lead architect and stakeholder in the introduction of ECG triggered Blood Pressure Monitor (a pre-IPO product) in the market place.  I worked for Intel Corporation from 2000 through 2005 and was responsible for delivering the 1st lead free 802.11 a/b/g Centrino product.  Currently I am the Director of Engineering at Qualcomm Innovation Center leading the Web Technologies Browser team.
 
I had been involved in the Bangladeshi Community affairs from the late eighties starting with the Tri-State Area (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware) Bangladesh Association and had participated in various support capacities.  I also served as the President of Drexel University Alumni Association of Maryland from 1991-1992.  Under my leadership, the Executive Committee put together numerous cultural, educational, sports, charitable, and community reach events.  I hosted the Presidential Reception of Dr. Richard Breslin of Drexel University in 1991.  I also served in the Executive Committee at various levels from 1988 to 1990. 
 
I am currently serving as the General Secretary (GS) for Greater San Diego Bangladesh Association (GSBA) and running for President of GSBA for the 2012-2013 election term.   GSBA was founded in 2011.  It was a vital and challenging year for GSBA in many respects.  As the GS, I was able to utilize my past experience and supported building the foundation, carrying out timely planning and smooth execution, and delivering timely communication of GSBA activities and programs.  I am a hard worker and team player.  I take pride in being a person of integrity, sincerity, humility, and vision.  I believe that with my experience and personal traits, I am the best person for the role of the President.
