The following candidates are running for 2012 Cultural Secretary position:
GSBA Cultural Secretary Candidate Profile : Zubair Noman
Zubair was born and brought up in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Even though he spent better part of his adolescence with bricks and concretes of urban life, he has longing to settle in some quiet, serene neighborhood, far from madding crowd. Lazy by nature he loves to sleep and eat whenever he gets a chance. He has an inordinate passion for Bangla food, music and culture. He moved to Blacksburg Virginia in January 2000 and was amazed by the beauty of nature, Blue Ridge Mountain, West Virginia almost heaven. He still cherishes the dream to settle there. Zubair moved San Diego in May 2004. Although he loves San Diego, he misses the 'real' weather back in East, and frequently complains about the lack of triple digit temperatures in summer, proper rainfall, snow, and iced roads.
Zubair, by profession is an Engineer and currently working at Broadcom. He is married to Sharmeen, Anamika. During his leisure time he loves to listen Rabindra Sangit, watch movies, NBA, NFL, Soccer, cricket and biking.
Zubair served the community for the last five years with his limited knowledge of culture and now is humbly ready for the evaluation from community members. To defend himself he has something to say.
Zubair is a very good team player and collaborative. He asks for ideas and offers his own. Zubair always seeks out feedback about his own work or team work. He focuses on community goals and prioritizes work to make sure those goals are met. Zubair usually fulfills/has passion to fulfill his commitments effectively.
Zubair helps to support a positive community/team atmosphere by participating in general meetings, listening to constructive criticism, and respecting others' opinions/disagreement.
He is an avid movie buff, and watches everything from QSQT to Inferno. Like a true Bengali he is never shy of providing his opinion . You can hear him providing his opinion free of charge, on anything and everything above or under the sun .
