GSBA "Chair – Bangladesh-American Business Development" Candidate Profile : Khan Kibria
My organizational experience started with me holding an office for Electrical Engineering department student union when I was studying in BUET.

I was employed by BUET as a lecturer after graduation for a year. In 1982 I came to US, to attend University of Florida for graduate studies. In 1983, immediately after completion of my Masters, I was employed by University of Florida for 2 years as sub faculty. I got married to Moonima and started a family, in 1985.

In 1986, I have gotten an employment from Unisys for designing main frame computers and decided to leave academia. Since then, I have lived in sunny Southern California in the same place called city of Mission Viejo. I was blessed with 2 boys and twin girls here and spend my time raising family as a working father. During that time I have become a very active part of the standards organization of IEEE and chaired a few standards groups. In this, I deliberated many political and technical issues among fortune 500 high tech companies internationally, that led to successful development of technical standards that are in use in the industry.

In 1995, I left Unisys to start my own venture. I was engaged in designing digital silicon for computers and embedded systems and related products. I was providing high tech solutions on several niche areas for companies worldwide. In 2002, after long exciting journey, I limited the activities due to too much risk in continuing. The bubble burst phenomena and the decline of the US economy forced lot of my client base become financially unsound and a big portion of them reduced their businesses quite significantly. It didn't make much sense in pursuing my business full scale in such volatile market any more.

As a result, I found an employment in Northrop in 2002, designing navigation electronics and chips for aircraft and satellites. In 2006, I started working for Broadcom, designing solutions for cellphone and multimedia portable devices like tablet and still doing such.

During the course of last year, I have participated in various cultural activities in GSBA.  I also provided the reservation mechanism with confirmation, ticket printing and tracking acceptances for our first GSBA event of Pohela Boishakh which was entrepreneurial and received praises.

My passion is flying, photography, composing music and of course high tech venture.
